Abstract

Sleep disordered breathing (SDB), which encompasses snoring and obstructive sleep apnea as representative symptoms, should be reflected when orthodontic or orthognathic treatment is considered for patients. However, there has been no organized treatment protocol for SDB patients from an orthodontic point of view towards actual collaboration. Seven SDB patients with different clinical situations will be presented to show how to apply differential diagnostic factors and how to decide the best treatment option for each patient. This lecture will guide orthodontists to have their own clinical guideline and help sleep doctors refer the SDB patients to an orthodontist.
