Abstract

In the last decade, the field of transparent orthodontics has evolved, creating a real alternative to braces. Transparent orthodontics achieves tooth movement using sequential fitted aligners, with design and manufacturing assisted by a prior setup. Aligners can be prepared using thermoplastic plates or by three-dimensional printing. This technology uses CAD/CAM by scanning impressions or directly scanning dental arches in the patient, and virtual planning is prepared by the orthodontist. The main advantages of transparent aligners are oral hygiene, aesthetics, and comfort for the patient.

The new elements introduced in the system allows professionals to obtain better results while minimizing the use of auxiliary techniques.

It is now possible to obtain predictable movements to correct any kind of malocclusion.
