  • > With this lecture, I would like to show you how CAD/CAM and its digital tools can help us to improve the aesthetic outcomes of our treatments

When it comes to CAD/CAM, the challenge of an aesthetic outcome can easily be achieved with the help of some digital tools and the mastery of their use.

From an optical impression, it is possible to make a digital wax-up. The use of a smile design software is helpful to adjust the aesthetic parameters to the patient’s face characteristics. Once the wax-up is made, the move from virtual to reality can be done through a digital mock-up in order to validate the prosthetic planning in the patient’s mouth. Some last adjustments can be made directly in the patient’s mouth via a new optical impression before recording the final mock- up. A simple “copy and paste” of this baseline situation can then be used to create the final restorations. That way, the clinical prosthetic step is greatly simplified with extreme fidelity to the original project.

A rational choice among the various ceramics available allows us to obtain a high-level aesthetic result.
