Chronic exposure to risk factors for tooth loss accumulates during the course of a lifetime. Oral disease processes are influenced by general ill-health and polypharmacy. Ageing may impact an individual’s capacity to undertake the maintenance procedures required to secure oral health. A minimally invasive approach to oral healthcare could reduce mechanical and biological maintenance for older patients. This strategy includes risk assessment, reparative approaches to caries and toothwear management, personalized maintenance procedures, and regular review. This presentation will provide an overview of clinical applications and the evidence base for minimally invasive dentistry in older adults.
